Under New Ownership: It Begins
This past week, Culligan was acquired by a private equity firm. Not stunning news for me, we've been watching the process unfold over the past 10-12 months. Still, it is finally upon us, and I anticipate some interesting events over the coming months.
Personally, it's going an interesting process becuase this is my first experience with private equity ownership. Previous employers were:
- Small, privately held (TenMan), and working for a nice balance of profit and tax liability
- Medium-sixed division (Adams) of a large multi-national (Schindler), and working to generate cash for opportunities in growth markets
- Publicly traded (Monsanto/Searle, Pharmacia) firms, working to imporve shareholder value that is directly measured by the stock price
This new (for me) ownership model will provide new perspectives, and additional material for this blog - should be quite fun!
